Portable Phone Numbers and Wireless Companies Last Stand

Posted by geeknews at 8:15 PM on April 11, 2003

Wireless phone companies are crying to the FCC. They don’t want to share phone number and are seeking relief and trying to get the FCC to stand-down. Well Consumers & FCC have spoken and these companies need to stand-down and give us what we want. The wireless companies that are scared are those companies that have crappy service which have had held customers hostage. Many consumer and business’s do not want to go thru the pain of changing there cell number. Some of you and I rely on our cell phone’s to generate income changing numbers would hurt our bottom line.

When I made my change last year I kept my old cell phone hooked up for three months to try and get everyone moved over to the new one. But I still have customers complaining that my old number is dead [Washington Post]
