HP cartridges have Expire Date

Posted by geeknews at 1:50 AM on April 30, 2003

Now this is going to piss me off if this story turns out to be true. I manage a significant ADP budget of which we spend a butt-load of money each year on High End HP Printers and HP Ink cartridges of which I buy in bulk when I find a good deal. Some of my users go thru cartridges weekly some last for many months or more. I have distribution cycle the oldest out first and have never had a complaint of poor print quality due to old ink.

I will be sending a memo tomorrow to have everyone observe their cartridge behavior on those machines I suspect to have the date kill option. To kill/expire a cartridge because of a time limit is criminal. This also prevents companies from trying to save money by re-filling cartridges. I guarantee this is the net result of some bean counter trying to increase there cartridge sales. So much for recommending HP printers time to go shopping for a new manufacture. [The Inquirer]

I am service technician for HP products and I have never run in expire problem until today. Cyan cart just expired front of my eyes as soon as I connected HP 2500CM to network this morning. It was working fine until then. What a coincidence.

    Have fun.
