Panoramic Pictures

Posted by geeknews at 1:33 AM on May 9, 2003

Several Months ago I saw a picture that had been printed that was about 8 feet long and it was a panoramic picture of the windward side of Oahu. I was shocked when I asked the photographer what kind of camera he used. He said it was 11 shots done freehand and he had spent several weeks stitching it together. The picture was truly amazing so today when I spotted and article on ZDnet that talked about some software packages that helps you do this. I will be trying one of the packages this weekend. [ZDnet]

See http://www.panoguide.com for the complete picture. I rate Panorama Factory as a fantastic tool for the casual to advanced user. PhotoStitch, which comes with most Canon digital cameras is ok, and PanoTools is good for the reaaally advanced user. Anyone doing it by hand these days must be mad. :)
