Steve Jobs on Longhorn

Posted by geeknews at 4:59 AM on November 9, 2003

I must admit the other day when I was at trade show here in Hawaii I really took some time and looked the G5 over. What a nice machine I have always thought that someday if I had some extra cash laying around (HA) that I would have one.

But Steve Jobs is right about one thing why in the hell does it take Microsoft so damn long to release new versions. The Apple gang is definitely spanking Bill and companies butts. Heck the manpower of Microsoft alone should allow a release every couple of years instead of like every 5 can anyone explain why they are so slow… [ActiveWin]

    1) In order not to saturate the market?
    2) In order to allow for the user’s learning curve to fully develop?
    3) They have too may parallel different developments going on and need to be sure on the technological alignement on products so basic as an OS?
    4) Responsibility towards a user base which is a vast majority of pc market?
    5) Strategic thinking that when implemented could last at least for another 10 years?

what? ‘parallel different developments’? Isn’t Microsoft just copying Apple’s development?.

I do have agree on ‘allow for the user’s learning curve to fully develop’ cos it takes donkey year to learn anything on Windows!!!
