AOL may allow third party e-mail clients

Posted by geeknews at 1:27 PM on December 11, 2003

In a sign of the times. AOL users are going to be allowed to move out of the dark ages and use the e-mail client of there choice. I have yet to understand why people have ever used AOL in the first place. In the early days it made sense as people where quite literally afraid of there computer and instead allowed AOL to assimilate there PC. From what people tell me that has not changed much. Once you go AOL it’s hell to go back probably because there software essentially takes over the operating system.

So this transition will be interesting [DesginTechnica]
