Tiny URL’s site is getting heavier demand

Posted by geeknews at 1:39 PM on December 23, 2003

As URL get longer do to fewer and fewer good domains being out there many people simply are having a hard time typing in the long URL’s that is where Tiny URL and several other services have filled in allowing any long url to be converted to a 6 letter url which helps avoid typing the url wrong when people are passing the info via chat or e-mail. They are expecting to launch a premium service in 2004. Geek News Central URL as a Tiny URL appears this way. (http://tinyurl.com/2ttlf) [ZDNet]

1tiny.com does it too and you can buy the script to integrate into any website. this is especially nice for shortening your links within your website too. Pretty sweet.
