Has your wireless connection been hacked

Posted by geeknews at 12:56 AM on December 26, 2003

I am very strict about personal PC security and have levels of protection on my systems that most people would not consider. My wireless access point had me concerned and for a long time and I was not satisfied with the linksys WAP security features and replaced it with a Netgear product. The Netgear WAP has a cool option that allows you to set it up to only allow certain MAC address’s which was handy as I entered the 4 mac address’s of the cards I own along with 128bit wep enabled. I feel somewhat secure with it, but I am still a bit paranoid and unplug it when it is not being used. I would hate to have had the experience that is outlined in this article. Linksys WAPs produced in the last year or so have included MAC filtering options.
