DVD-Sharing Device And Fair Use

Posted by geeknews at 4:03 PM on January 8, 2004

Techdirt has some great commentary on a DVD device manufactured by a French firm. Seems they have been selling like hotcakes and bypasses the DVD security code that stops people from re-recording DVD’s to VHS or other devices. It has always pissed me off the lengths the MPAA and other organizations have gone to prevent fair use. If I buy a DVD, VHS, CD or any other media I should be able to transfer it to any media device I own. I hope this company sells a 100 million of these devices. Which reminds me I need to buy a DVD player when I am overseas so I can watch some DVD’s I purchased in Japan which do not work on my DVD player that I bought in the United States.
