Windows XP giving you fits when booting

Having trouble with Booting check Bootlogger:

“One such tool is called the boot logger. When dealing with bootup problems that have you stumped, this tool is invaluable. By creating a text log of the boot up process, you can quickly tell where the problem is coming from.

Let’s get started, shall we?

1. You will need to restart the troubled computer running Windows XP.
2. Just before XP starts to load, press F8 as if you were trying to get into safe mode.
3.Select Enable Boot Logging option, and then press enter.
4.Now for the moment of truth. After the system’s bootup process is finished, navigate over to the C:\Windows\Ntbtlog.txt file. There you will find a list of all of the drivers that did or tried to load during the boot process. By examining this file closely, you can quickly spot which service or driver is causing the problem”

    The only boot log analyzer tool I’ve seen is here
    http://www.greatis.com/regrun3bootlog.htm
    and it is part of a $50 package. And it does not seem to do that much.

    My computer stops right in the middle of the windows home startup screen about 1 boot in 4, and I have to do a hard poweroff. I hoped the bootlog would show what is going on, but I have no way to analyze it!

    Pretty sad tool, I’d say.

    I have the same problem, except the hang occurs 4 out of 4 times. I’ve found I can Alt-Ctl-Del, terminate explorer.exe, go to the the “Net Task” and enter explorer to recover. But it’s sure annoying. What’s curious is that my bootlog (ntbtlog.txt) seems to end similar to yours:

    Mine hard locks at bootup when I try to reboot after install the driver for my Radeon 9600. Ive tried both the newest version and the version before with the same result…gets the loading screen with the logo and the bar…goes black…restarts automatically after a minute. booting into VGA mode (which I am in right now) tells me that the Radeon’s driver is the problem. The last line in my bootlogger (which I enabled for a normal boot so I could see where its hanging) is:

    wanarp.sys

    I don’t know what this does. Im suspecting I might need to update my nForce2 drivers to fix this.

    I wanted to recommend that you remove any external devices (USB and Parallel). Just have your keyboard, monitor, and mouse connected, and try rebooting.

    I use Windows 2000 Pro, and had a Stop Error on boot for a couple of days. The various techs that I called said I would have to reformat and reinstall.. Turned out, it was the driver for my Iomega ZipCD650 that was causing the problems..

    If removing external devices doesn’t help, I’m not sure what else to suggest.. however, if it does, then add one device at a time, and reboot.. Until you find the troublemaker. When you find it, reinstall the software associated with that device.

    i jsut got a new mother board put my old hard drive back in ….an it reboots it self each time. tried booting to safe mode an it makes it to some Mup.sys driver an freeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzesssssssssss………… I tried anthoer hard drive an it boots just fine? im running xp pro on both….
