DeCSS case dropped

Posted by geeknews at 2:16 AM on January 23, 2004

A long battle against an individual hosting the DeCSS code and other web sites that had carried the DeCSS code was dropped today. Even though a court ruling against 2600 several years ago found it illegal for websites to carry the code the DVD copy control association has decided to move on.

Ziff Davis did make a mistake in their article as Andrew Bunner was not the author nor the programmer of the DeCSS code. [ZDNet]
