RIAA ends Amnesty program

Posted by geeknews at 2:44 AM on April 20, 2004

I really wonder how few people the RIAA actually signed up for the Amnesty program that allowed consumers to sign a agreement basically admitting guilt in sharing files by then deleting the data and then the RIAA said they would not be targeted.

If they received more than a 100 applications I would be surprised. The RIAA has been keeping a low profile in recent weeks as it reputation as a group that sues 12 yr old girls has not allowed them to be portrayed in a favorable light.

If a poll among techno geeks was run they definitely would make the top 10 hated organizations of all time. [Yahoo]

Apparently they have received over 1100 amnesty applications. This is still a pathetic number considering the press coverage the received because of this.
