Could you go paperless? Now ask if a 5th grader could?

I work in the technical field and have to read very large schematics. Recently I had to read those same paper schematics on my laptop utilizing Autocad to fix a problem in the field. I am here to tell you it sucked. So I wonder how 5th and 6th graders are going to be able to handle making the transition to computer based books. A trial is to be run that has 5th and 6th graders give IBM ThinkPad’s loaded with their school books.

I personally love to do as much as I can digitally but when you need to reference back and forth in researching things it can be a pain. [Yahoo]

Try looking at them in PDF format! :)

I agree with you. I look at various documents for most of my workday and find it much easier dealing with hardcopy than digital. If I have a project to combine 3 user manuals into 1, it is easier to have the 3 spread out in front of me than to tile them on my monitor or ALT-TAB between them. Paper still has unique advantages. Even outside of work, I would rather carry a book with me to the airport or to the beach than to read the same book on my laptop or PDA.
