Fraud with Paypal

Posted by geeknews at 11:19 AM on May 27, 2004

I have been using Paypal for quite a long time and luckily everyone that I have done business with has had a legitimate account. I am sure at some point I will get one of these messages, I just hope it isn’t for a very high amount. [Intutive.Com]

Um, according to the rest of that page, that is a phony e-mail. It wasn’t sent by PayPal, it was a phishing tactic. I’ve seen them before, and that isn’t how PayPal handles payment reversals.

It’s not? That’s funny, because I got something worded just like that from Paypal about 3 years ago. I got ripped for over $900 and Paypal ended up closing the account over it. So yeah, that’s EXACTLY how Paypal handles payment reversals.
