Security Issue for Mozilla / Firefox fixed

Apparently a bug that has been on the been known about for 2 years has been fixed. There is a huge discussion going on over at Slashdot about it and I tend to agree with several points. The main thing is the Mozilla / Firefox folks are as guilty as the Microsoft gang fro not plugging this hole earlier.
