Phone phreaking in the Philippines

For those of you that have been to the Philippines and traveled or stayed outside of hotels understand how antiquated the telecommunications infrastructure is. In the past people would be on list for many years waiting for a landline. This is one of the reasons cellular service in the Philippines is so popular. Well using some old techniques some individuals have been rounded up and put in jail for scamming the phone company out of some very serious money. [The Register]
