Podcast bandwidth 10 Gigs and Climbing

One word of warning to those of you that are going to do Podcast make sure you have plenty of bandwidth. We will be reducing the bit rate on all future shows. We went over 10 gigs of traffic for our first Podcast. I obviously under estimated the total amount traffic level. I reserved a 100 gigs for this month but this was with the planning of doing 10-12 Podcast. I think with reducing the bit rate we can keep in that alloted amount.

I guess I need to figure out how to do Bitorrents. If are doing Podcast and are seeding Bitorrents I would like to talk to you on how you are doing that and if it is helping your bandwidth issues.

I also think we will setup a separate xml file specifically for Podcast subscriptions I think some of the downloads came from individuals that have rss aggreators that pull the enclosures by default

Have you tried using BitTorrent files? That’s how I deal with my bandwidth problem. iPodder supports Torrent files.
