Is Spyware on your computer ok?

Posted by geeknews at 2:41 AM on December 7, 2004

If you answered that question “yes” then just stand up and grab a baseball bat and hit yourself in the head several times, and say after me “I’m Dumb, I’m a Idiot, and I will listen to what this Geek has to say”.

Spyware is Evil, Spyware is invasive, Spyware will make my $399.00 to $5000.00 dollar computer that used to perform like a sports car run like a snail, Spyware will report all of my online activities to the big brother marketing firms that report to everyone I do business with including my insurance company, Spyware will capture for eternity my lifestyle activities, Spyware will capture my keystrokes as I write personal notes to a Spouse, Girlfriend, Boyfriend, Lover etc etc etc.

Get the idea “HELLO” Spyware is BAD. If you are not currently running a Spyware program. Then proceed to Paragraph One follow instructions and continue reading. Get a Spyware Program Today and PAY FOR IT. It will be the best 29.95/39.95/49.95 you will spend this holiday period.

Run that program and sit back and be ready to be shocked, if your lucky you will get the performance of your computer back. If the spysweeper fails and you have still have traces of spyware on your machine after multiple re-boots and sweeps then do the following

1. Pray
2. Backup Critical Data
3. Have on Hand Virus/Firewall/Spyware programs.
4. Unplug Network Cable
5. Reinstall Windows choose format Hard-drive option
6. Install Virus/Firewall/Spyware Protection Programs.
7. Connect to Internet download all Updates.
8. Install all applications
9. Restore critical data

If you have no clue what I am talking about seek professional assistance before doing any of these steps, and don’t blame me if you forget to backup your e-mail. [Wired]
