Drilling into the Earths Mantle

I don’t know about you but this bothers me just a little. But I guess that’s why scientist get paid the big bucks. Seems some scientist are working pretty hard to drill all the way to the Earths Mantle. It seems they are getting pretty close. [livescience.com]

Time for me to do some googling to see what I can find on the subject.

    What you *might* find is a cute “Doctor Who” story wherein drilling through the crust causes the end of the world. It’s called “Inferno”. :-)
