I should have know better when I contacted vonage and had to repeat myself numerous times due to the poor reception and the representative from India on the other end who spoke very broken english. He told me that they could accomodate incoming collect calls which proved to be a lie and total misrepresentation. I contacted them immediately and they then informed me that they did not have that capability. I explained the situation and told them that I wanted to cancel service and did not want to be billed for any bogus charges. Lie number two came when that representative told me that I would not be charged for the device, etc. if I returned it to Vonage which I did the very next day at my own expense. The following month I received a charge of $114.89 on my Credit Card which I am now disputing. I contacted Vonage and was transferred to their Billing Dispute Dept. who then told me to email my dispute because apparently you cannot dispute any charges while speaking to a live person in the Billing Dispute Dept!

I cancelled my Vonage service on August 9, 2007. The call center was in India and the
operator had a "canned speech." He told me that I would be canceled after 2 months of free
service. I told him I was moving and to cancel the service. Vonage continued to debit my bank account for six months. I stopped them by changing my debit card. I emailed and called
monthly thereafter, but they never cancelled my account. I was moving and there was no Vonage in the area I was moving too -- two months free what? Anyway, I asked them to refund six months of payments and reminded them of the calls and they told me to call the
customer service center. I did and got the same
sort of "canned speech." The person on the call center clearly couldn't give me a refund or help me. There was no address available to which a complaint or need for service could be handled. I was basically ripped off and held
hostage. If this is going on, no wonder they are having trouble.
