Hey, the linking to the wrong url for the podcasts was an oversight not an attempt to be evil and hijack people's podcast feeds. It's been fixed already.

Please read what i wrote about it on my blog.

And check out the odeo terms of service which talks about what we will and won't do with your content.

My assumption would be that the exposure of the cast is what is important here.

What would make the url rewrite acceptable?

http://odeo.com/channel/rss/www.geeknewscentral.com/podcast.xml or some other method that would at least allow an original location markup or something?

Isn't this similar to what feedburner does? I can access my feed there at http://feeds.feedburner.com/CtypeyourbrainMybrain (and directly from my sites rss feed). Content is still provided by me via them...

The problem that I would have is if 1) my content was modified in any way, shape or form or 2) their advertisting was overlaid on my feed.

Just my .02.

Thanks,

Hal

Deal with it. You are going to see more and more sites using these types of tactics to drive up their hits. It happens all the time with standard webpages and I'm actually suprised it's taken this long to hit RSS feeds.
