I just want to clarify that IE7 Beta 2 Preview does have enclosure support. The RSS Platform provides a feed store and sync engine that auto-downloads enclosures which are accessible to applications.

Within the feed reading experience in IE7, users can access the downloaded files either through clicking on individual enclosures within the feed view, or opening the folder of enclosures (from the properties dialog, click the "view" button) in an explorer.

In the future, we anticipate applications taking advantage of the RSS Platform to enable scenarios like podcasting, photo/video-casting to dealing with documents, contacts, calendar events, etc.

We'll be posting more information about this in the coming days on: http://blogs.msdn.com/rssteam/

Todd Cochrane at Geek News Central has a nice 20-minute audio interview with Margaret Cobb, one of the product managers for Microsoft's upcoming Internet Explorer 7, to be included with the Windows Vista operating system update planned for later this year.
