I've been using podpress for about a Month on my podcast, and a little bit longer in testing it on my personal blog. I figured out how to disable that attribute. Head to the podpress section of wordpress, select the "Feed/iTunes Settings" button and remove your feed url from the bx labeled "Podcast Feed URL" Next time you update your RSS feed with content the offending tag is removed. All is well.

I have to say I love the stats on podpress. After a few bumps in the road the CaffiNation Podcast is working smoothly but i guess thats with any new software you try. Hope this helps with your Mom's Podcast Todd

I can't recall if this was fixed as a bug, but it has been reported as a bug. I reported it and it really broke my feeds at the time.

I am not sure in your case, but I can see a use for this for stupid people who might be hijacking the feed and don't remove the tag, you can be sure that at least the iTunes users won't loose the feed.
