To Brian: Gaming companies should not have to have restrictions. There is a ERSB for a reason. It's the /parents/ responsibiliy to moniter what their child is playing. And before people give me the, "You can't always moniter what they play. They can play them at a friend's house and or bring them home from a friend's." crap, memory cards do hold the name of the games they buy for their children. So parents can't use that excuse anymore.

To Matthew: I hope Jack Thompson sees this. :]

Brian, I respect your opinion if it was slightly ironic. While I made a few different points in the post, the core of the argument is that while it appears (to some) to be intuitively obvious that there is a link between video games and actual violence there is no data to back this up while there is correlation between the rise in violence in video games and the reduction of violence in real life.

We have a rating system so that people can make their own decisions on what they consume.

We hear too much opinion on this issue and not enough data to back those opinons up.

Thanks for the comments Brian, keep posting!

I agree with that video games does not cause violence, however Video games do inspire people to the way they conduct violence, they teach people how to hurt other people in the most horrible ways, I am mostly talking about games like GTA where the sole purpose of the game is to kill and molest.

Video games should not be banned, but there should be guidelines for what can be shown and done in them, and the game companies should be ashamed of themselves for the way they make these games.

IF you are going to make a violent game character, at least give him a freaking contience.
