Also—

1. There is no such thing as the free market when it comes to Internet connectivity. My options are Comcast, AT&T DSL, and when it comes available (and who knows what form) AT&T Uverse. The only other possible option if money is no problem is getting my own T1 installed, if that really is an option for my home.

2. (You need to subscribe to Dave Farber's Interesting People list on RSS (or regular mail, but I don't remember how that works now)) According to some ISP owners *cough*Brett Glass*cough*, using BitTorrent or any other P2P program is stealing your ISPs bandwidth. My argument is, funny I thought I was already paying for that.

It's all because of Florida. The Attorney General found against Comcast for three users who were thrown off because of unknown caps. Comcast had to pay $150,000 because of that, and they have now publicly announced what that cap is.

Of course, Comcast is not telling us what tools we Comcast users will have to manage this. And if it is none, as I suspect, I'll be writing letters to my Attorney General to remind them that a published cap is worthless without having the tools to know what my consumption is, the Better Business Bureau, and who ever else.
