I *wish* I could find a flat screen for $40 at a garage sale or something like SWAP. The closest thing we have in this area is the university surplus auction. There, the monitors are sold by the palate and they go on the expensive side. The people who buy them also buy the surplus computers, cobble them all together, then sell them in Mexico for a huge profit.

Another reason for me to miss Wisconsin!! Sales here are on Saturdays (sometimes Wednesdays). I hardly ever see worthy equipment at yard/garage sales, but I could use something like SWAP. Here, everything that goes to surplus from my campus goes to an auction clearing house where it is sold at auction. I'd much rather go to a "store" and just browse around and pick up a few useful things.

Well, I still have a CRT sitting on my desk right now. But it's my secondary monitor, my primary is a Samsung 204B at 1600x1200 resolution. THe monitor, 17", is going dark, just like my 20" CRT did (the reason why I bought this LCD), and that was a secondary display (nice since both were the same resolution), and then it died. I'm expecting the same thing to happen to this one.

My kids finally have laptops that they use, so they don't need to use my server as a workstation, so I'll be scrubbing that down and reinstalling (they've got it so screwed up I can't even RDP into it!), moving the CRT to it, and moving it's LCD as a secondary display to this computer. And using Synergy, I've got my Ethernet KVM set so that it acts almost like a third display.

As far as saleing goes, I would definitely take a laptop with an external display port to test it.
