Adolfo, you would need to purchase it from the USA with a USA phone number. I see no reason it would not work unless the initial activation needs to be done in the USA as well. If you have family here, have them purchase, activate, and send it to you.

The MagicJack has worked great for me and my family for over a year now.

The only problems I have had with it have been with my own internet connection and not really related to the ‘jack’ itself. However, this is rare.

Great little device.

i already have the magicjack but I tried to cancell my phone and they said you would have to call at&t for me to cancell my phone service and I also cancelled my att&t dsl internet I am with concast internet now.

I should append my post to include something I just recently noticed today. If you doing something which involves high bandwidth (such as downloading a large torrent file) when you are trying to make a call, the call quality will suffer. I was downloading a 700MB torrent file today, and attempted to make a call and noticed dropouts during the conversation every 5 seconds or so. This, of course, made the call completely unlivable and non-communicative. Once I stopped the torrent download, everything was once again well and good.

FYI – Be advised that MagicJack has VERY LIMITED “area codes” secured. My father in Connecticut signed up for magic jack only to find out that they do not have any phone numbers available in his area code. This means his neighbors and friends have to call long distance and pay to call him!!

Magic Jack has been telling him “soon, soon” for 18 months, when asked about a timeframe for getting numbers in his area code. I’m beginning to wonder if they even have plans to obtain those numbers.

Buyer beware.

The quality will no doubt vary for people. I would assume it is tied to the internet connection more than the MJ itself. I forgot to note that on the slower DSL speed it cut out a bit if I tried surfing the net at the same time. As I said earlier it works from India to the US on a internet connection over there that can be very shaky. I did also try it from my MJ to the India MJ and the quality was equally as impressive.

I have one of these also. I’m in California and it works flawlessly. One call has been dropped, but I was calling a person that was in a remote area of Arizona on her cell, so I’m not sure if it was the MagicJack or her phone that dropped the call. All the pros are perfect. I have not found a way to import contacts from Outlook either, and that would be an EXTREMELY convenient feature for MagicJack to look at in a future upgrade. I bought this after my T-mobile cell phone bill reached $700 last month. $20/year sure beats 10x that per month on T-mobile!

MJ is not working for me, the quality here is horrible and I had to drop it after a few months.
