While it has been shown that talking on a phone while driving is distracting, where is the study that says that talking to a passenger is distracting? or a crying baby in the back seat is distracting? And the legislation against passengers and crying babies?

The fact is that while a phone call is distracting to a driver, it is only one of the many distractions a driver will have on any given day. Smoking, eating, drinking, changing the radio station, these are all distractions.

NOTE: I’ve seen women doing their makeup while driving, to my knowledge this isn’t illegal, but is far more distracting, and dangerous than talking on a mobile phone.

We need consistency to our laws, or they may as well not exist...

Even legislation isn't enough to stop the idiots who can't control themselves.
