GoDaddy Dedicated Servers Assisted Service Plan

Posted by geeknews at 9:26 PM on February 14, 2010

I want to talk about GoDaddy Dedicated Server Assisted Service Plan. When my site grew to the point that I needed to graduate from a Godaddy Shared Hosting account to a Dedicated server my biggest fear was that when you make the switch from Shared to Dedicated you essentially are on your own.

Most hosting companies throw you to the wolves and you have to have to sink or swim. When I made the jump I added the optional Assisted Service Plan to my server purchase. The folks at GoDaddy installed everything I needed to prepare me to move my websites.

Within a few days of purchasing the server I was up and running. But the Assisted Service Plan does not stop their. They offer emergency support, patch updates, Security and Monitoring services to name a few. I personally do not have time to deal with managing a server, but the folks at GoDaddy gave me piece of mind.

While I have kind of graduated at this point and do not necessarily need the additional support it is one less worry. People ask me all the time why I like Godaddy and this is one of many reasons that I stand behind this company and fully endorse their products.

Disclaimer: GoDaddy is a sponsor of my Podcast and while I receive monetary compensation for that sponsorship, I pay for all of my services at Godaddy at full retail minus savings of my own GoDaddy Promo Codes. This article is one of a series that I am doing for “no” compensation so that I can share with you the services I use at Godaddy.com

If you so choose to pick up a product at GoDaddy.com I would hope that you would consider using one of my GoDaddy Promo Codes or sharing them with people that will use them. GoDaddy helps keep the lights on here and support is appreciated.

One of the very coolest things at CES was Intel’s Infoscape display. If you have not seen a video of it before you are going to be blown away. All i can say is Intel needs to release the code to this to the public domain because I want to run one of these in my studio during my shows. Inada Reclining Shiatsu Massage Chair – CES 2010

Posted by geeknews at 7:32 PM on February 13, 2010

The Inada Massage Chair is a product that we would all love to have in our homes, and it was a welcome break to demo the Inada line of chairs and one reclining massage chair specifically. Having a lower priced massage chair in my own home I was blown away by the features of the Inada and the number of points it actually massaged. I really want one of these for my own home. Having a Japanese wife we have experienced a wide variety of massage chairs here and in Japan and this one beats them all.

Yes I did take the opportunity to lay down on the job :)

As we reach limits with Copper and still want data faster, the Intel Light Peak Technology will allow you to transfer a Blu-Ray movie within 30 seconds. Optical technology also allows for smaller connectors and longer, thinner, and more flexible cables than currently possible. While Intel realizes that they have to work with standards groups it will be fun to watch this technology mature and move forward in the marketplace.

ASTAK Mole Network Camera – CES 2010

Posted by geeknews at 7:17 PM on February 13, 2010

The Astak Mole Network Camera can be used for a variety of purposes but what I thought was cool was that they have come up with a simple 3 step setup process, use this camera as a regular webcam connected to your network via Wi-Fi or use it as a security camera. Pricing starts at $249.00 and can be found on Amazon. What I really like about these Wireless camera is that they can also be accessed when you are away from home which is nice to be able to check up on things while away.
