I don't file share, I think that doing this just De-values the product be it a movie, album or an audio-book. If I hear something or read a review of something I like, I buy it. To me it gives it a value! I know of colleagues at work who share everything, recently released movies, new music and now even eBooks and the thing is, they have reams of stuff they never get round to watching or listening to because their free, illegal catalog is completely overloaded. If they had to buy it I feel that they would actually pay more attention to it. I often ask them that if they had created something unique and enriching do they not think they should receive some sort of compensation for it? Their answer is "Well they are rich enough anyway" This may be true although I still do not condone it of blockbuster movie stars or even some egocentric rock stars, but what about the lesser known Indie artists that may be able to make a decent living from selling there stuff?
I don't know what the way forward is but I do concur that I should not have to pay for other peoples' lack of sense of value for things that can enrich and educate the mind.
