Perhaps Microsoft should have purchased Palm to help them make a more viable Microsoft smartphone O/S effort. Microsoft's smartphone stumbles are painful to watch at this point in a maturing smartphone market. Regardless, if you are eventually able to get a Kindle app on your smartphone (or even an iPod Touch) you will likely find as I have that it really offers the opportunity to put the option to read books back into my schedule. I'm not likely to carry an actual Kindle device around with me everywhere I go even if I had one. However, a smartphone is a completely different story. There are a couple of ebook readers for WebOS but it would good to have a slickly integrated one. With HP buying Palm, let's hope Amazon are encouraged to do so.
