The Geek News Central BBS is now on-line and is part of the overall initial roll-out. Let me go into a little philosophy of this site. There are many sites that do a great job in getting massive amount's of information disseminated. Our goal is to build a team of editors that will build this site up to only contain the best links and information.
One way we will develop and recruit these editors is to have the BBS. What will happen is this as people post links to sites we will evaluate those post. We will gleam the gems from those post and put them up on this site giving the poster full credit on the main page with a link in the article to there personal site.
When I and the other editors think he or she has what it takes to post on the main site we will give them a MT login and password. They will get a permanent link on the main page and some other benefits.
One of those benefits is I will pay for each editors personal site submission to one of the premier site submission services at www.submit-it.com this is a 49.99 yearly value. We will schedule re-submissions of there site at a minimum every 30 days. This gets there site submitted to nearly 150 quality search engines by one of the best submission services.
I want to tell you the rest of the story but I am not going to let the entire cat out of the bag. The site's content will be steered by the editors. I have always thought that under-dogs can win. I will go into that philosophy on my personal blog so that you can understand why I have built the half dozen or so sites that I manage on the net today.
I am not a MT (Movable Type Genius) so we will be looking for people to add the latest enhancements to both the MT site and the IKONBOARD BBS. As we continue with the roll-out we will add some site specific features that will tie into some of the massive data streams so that our editors and visitors can get a pretty good picture of what is happening in the world of High Tech and beyond.
This site is not limited to High Tech it can and will include a number of topics that will extend beyond computing but will always be concise and interesting.
The site is 100% Non-Profit although I have invested starter money in getting the required bandwidth and computer resources to make this site sizzle. I will take every dollar we receive and put it toward's bandwidth and added value services.
I will be explaining more in the coming days. Hopefully we have found someone that will produce us a nice skin for the system. If you are interested in developing a skin for the system drop me a line.
The first taste of links is just around the corner we hope you bookmark us and visit. Register on the BBS submit some of your keepers and get the attention of the editors.
