Scientist freeze a pulse of light

In what I would classify as out of the box thinking scientist have been able to stop a pulse of light for a fraction of second. When you think of this your first reaction is to say WOW. But in fact what they really did was store some of the photons. There is a great more detail in the linked story but what an amazing concept to consider. [SignOnSanDiego]
