VoIP made huge strides in 2003

Being a VoIP early adopter using some of the now defunct IP chat services the advancements in reliability and sound quality has been impressive. I am now testing with great success modern pay services like Vonage. But I still have quite a few people I chat with on Skype something about a free service that allows you to bypass the man is attracts me. If local phone companies have not started to see an impact of VoIP they probably will in the near future. I am sure that the FCC will regulate VoIP sooner than later. The FCC and local regulatory boards are going to have figure a way to continue to support the wired aka copper wires that have to be maintained to support the old infrastructure. [ZDNet]
