Spyware getting nastier

I had a co-worker ask me this morning how to get rid of some spyware that he caught while surfing the net and having a Gambling pop-up infect his machine. I asked all of the standard questions and he was quite surprised when I told him he should have been running a anti-spyware program on his computer. He was under the false impression that his Virus protection was enough.

Seems that a lot of others are getting concerned and really distressed on the ever increasing sophistication of some of the newer spyware variants out their. [Wired]
