Well as soon as you lock the doors they come in a window. This morning I woke up to over 100 spam trackbacks that where very nasty. Some of you may have seen them in our trackback tracker on the main page. I really love to give credit to those sites that quote us but I cannot risk having them on the main page. They are getting smarter as they are spoofing IP's so it's not like I can put in a IP block. So those of you using Movable Type Version 3 the backdoor is wide open.

Why not support Pingback instead? You wouldn't have the crapflood/spam problems and you'd get all the benefits of Trackback.

You sure about that, Matt? Sure enough to want to dare me to Pingback spam you? Remember, a page only needs to link to you at the second that you check the ping, and only for you checking (got PHP using a fake browser UA string?). Not at all difficult to have a page show Safari, Opera, Moz, and PHP a weblog post, and show IE and Googlebot extra-sick pr0n.
