Frank Barnako "Podcasters your 15 minutes of Fame is up"

What kind of crack is this guy Frank Barnako smoking, this guy just does not get it. He think just because the majority of Podcast in the iTunes top 100 list are commercial that podcasting for the small guy is finished. A large part of the reason that the top 100 podcast are commercial is because Apple is pushing commercial content hard. Quite frankly this guy does not know what he is talking about. Does that mean that podcasting is over for people like me.

My numbers are way up, and I have the tools and the logs to prove it, all of the podcasters I talk to numbers are way up. But the old school mentality that podcasting is finished because the big boys have come to play is ridiculous. Here is why listen to one of those commercial podcast, it's the same industry party line crap that they have been feeding the general public for years.

They can slice, dice, repackage, and try to make it into something that it isn't. The can wrap it up, and put a pretty bow on it. But when you dig down through the layers it is still Garbage In, Garbage out.

Commercial Big Media Podcast equal Garbage In Garbage out.

You have to ask why is "Big Media" jumping on the podcasting bandwagon, it's because the big media people are scared! They blew it in blogging and can not contain the momentum. they hope to cut the head of the snake by killing podcasting at the source. I have bad news for all of them the world will never be the same. Never!

The media revolution has only just begun, and it may take us a little longer but in the end we will completely take back the media. [A very Scared Frank Barnako]

Denial is always a beautiful thing to watch in action!

The worst thing about iTunes is that there are going to be a huge number of people who subscribe to your podcast to check it out and then never bother to unsubscribe. Why would they? iTunes will happily download every episode you make in the background, even if the subscriber gets bored with podcasting and never listens to another show. As long as they are using iTunes every so often to play their music, or sync their iPod, iTunes will download and contribute to 'listener' numbers (and use your bandwidth in the process). Really, the best way to be happy as a podcaster is to encourage listener feedback and participation (as you do). We can't really know how many people are *listening* - but we can get a buzz from the e-mails and voicemails we get.
