One of the toughest arguments is privacy on a social networking site. Does that make sense to some users? I think privacy defies what a social networking site is used for. On the other hand I agree that the option should be there. People should be able to choose whether everyone gets to see there profile or not. I do not think having private profiles will do anything to prevent online predators or the problems with teenage profiles because it is all about who they are letting in. Unless parents are watching what children are doing online the problem will just continue. The sad thing is that it does not take much to keep track of what your children are viewing online. If the computer has no filters on it, there is the cookies folder and history tracking applications that can assist with ease. I think that should be where the focus is for everyone. Not on MySpace itself but the parents who allow their children to roam freely with no supervision.
