I wrote a week or so ago about Viacom's request for information on YouTube users, what they watched, and when. The biggest question in my mind, and in many others', was how to keep our privacy safe from Viacom.

Apparently, both parties (Viacom and YouTube/Google) have agreed that when the date is turned over, it will be sufficiently anonymized. This is good news for anyone who has an account on YouTube. Viacom will only be able to see the data they are requesting and nothing more, and YouTube has the control it needs to keep our names, IP addresses, and other identifying information out of the files it sends to Viacom.

I'm breathing a sigh of relief, although this is a long way from being over at this point.
