Cord Cruncher is a unique headphone and cable

Posted by Alan Buckingham at 12:18 PM on February 27, 2013

cord cruncher logoWe all experience the problems created by headphone cords. Despite our best efforts these things can become a tangled mess with seemingly no effort. However the untangling does require an effort.

Now Cord Cruncher provides a unique solution. The video below shows you what I would struggle to explain, but my best effort would be to call it retractable and easy to store and carry around without fear of spaghetti being the end result. You really need to see the video below to understand just how this works.

The Cord Cruncher is available now and retails for $25. The headphones come in four different colors, with more promised in the future.

Posted by Alan Buckingham at 5:14 PM on February 25, 2013

sol republic logoSeth Combs from SOL Republic stopped in to visit with TPN in Las Vegas and show off some new headphones that are like no others you have ever seen.

The new set is called Master Tracks. This is the company’s first “over the ear” headphones and, as you will see in the video below, seem to be virtually indestructible. the headphones come in different colors and the parts are completely interchangeable. That means if an earpiece on one side stop working then you simply by another — not a whole new headphone set. Tat includes the cable as well.

The headphones shown in the video below retail for $199, but the company also offers cheaper models as well.

Parrot Zik

Posted by KL Tech Muse at 9:27 AM on February 25, 2013

Parrot Zik Parrot introduced the new Parrot Zik headphones. The headphones were designed by a French designer who hated buttons, so he designed a buttonless headphone. All the controls are done by touching the right headphone. Slide up and down for volume control, back and forth to change tracks. Remove the headphones and the music pauses, place the headphones back on and the music starts playing again. The headphone’s are noise canceling and uses DSP (digital sound processorr) technology which allows you to use the iOs and Android app to vary the sound field. Instead of hearing your music from the left and right side you hear the music as if it is coming from the front of you, like a concert hall. The Parrot Zik uses Bluetooth technology to allow you to connect hands free to your phone or music device. The Parrot Zik has four microphones two on the outside and two on the inside of the earpiece for more sound clarity. The headphone’s uses two directional microphones and bone conduction technology so your voice to go through but not the background noise. The Parrot Zik is available for $399 through the website,  Amazon and various retail locations.

Parrot is also working on a project that will help people take better care of your plants. It is a stick that you put in the soil next to the plant. It measures how much sunlight the plant is getting, the temperature, health and moisture level of the soil. The Flower Power is still an internal projects and they were showing it off at CES 2013 to talk to people to find out what they were looking for in a gadget like this.

Rednote

Posted by KL Tech Muse at 12:54 PM on February 17, 2013

Rednote Rednote enables a user to embed a snippet of audio within a text note. Similar to how you would embed a image, only instead of a photo its is a bit of audio. Rednote has a list of categories including sad, happy, romantic and each category has a list of appropriate songs underneath it. You tap on the song you want to use and it gives you a 5- 19 second clip which you can embed into a text note. At this time you can not create your own clip. It took Rednote over 2 years to get the licensing rights to the clips of the songs they have available.

Rednote just announce a partnership with the Heywire texting app.  Rednote currently works directly within the Heywire Android version only. Heywire is working to upgrade their iOs version so Rednote will soon be included in it also. Rednote will also work with native SMS programs such as iOS Messages, where song snippets appear as a link that leads the receiver to a sponsored landing page that will play the clip.
